I have loved home design for the better part of my life. Growing up we moved around quite a bit, it allowed me to get creative with new spaces each move. If that wasn’t enough my mother would often find me urging her to move furniture around in my room until I was old enough to do it myself.

Facts About Me

I have been been designing Kitchens since 2008.

My educational journey started with the Interior Decorating program at Conestoga College. Drafting on paper, computer aided design and scale modeling. Where I created my first scale model kitchen. I designed an entire house from top to bottom for my capstone project before graduating in 2010.

Real World Experience and Certifications

While attending school I gained experience working at The Home Depot part-time in the Kitchen and Bath Department. I also cross-trained in appliances, plumbing, and flooring.

2010 – 5 months after graduating I began designing Kitchen’s full time at Lowe’s Home Improvement in Waterloo behind the scenes inputting every design.

2013 – Earned my certification with NKBA (National Kitchen and Bath Association) and became an Accredited Associate Kitchen and Bath Designer. I also worked part-time with an Interior Designer as a Junior Designer.

2014 – Parted ways at Lowe’s and started Kayla Deane Designs part time while managing a flooring showroom for two years full time.

2016 – 2022 – Worked in Sales and Purchasing for a local well established manufacturer of cabinets and components.

2018 – Became a Certified Living In Place Professional with Living in Place Institute

Where I Find Inspiration

Inspiration can be found anywhere, I love art, colour, architecture, lighting, fabrics and textures!. Putting everything together comes natural to me. I enjoy creating in different medias, in my spare time I am either making logos, painting, creating cards, tie-dying and painting custom clothing just to name a few things.

What Drives Me?

Mostly I love the challenge of the design, every client is unique. There is nothing better than seeing my clients happy at the end of their project completion.
